Associate Editor at Nonwovens Industry
Alkegen, a high-performance specialty materials company pioneering innovative solutions for the battery industry, announced the appointment of Gaetan Borgers as the new president of its Battery Group. “Gaetan’s appointment marks the exciting next chapter in Alkegen’s journey to revolutionize energy storage technologies and underscores our continued commitment to delivering transformative solutions to our customers,” says Alkegen CEO John Dandolph. “”His distinctive blend of technical expertise and commercial accomplishments will play a pivotal role as we unite Alkegen’s rapidly expanding battery portfolio under its own structure and focus to meet surging customer demand. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Alkegen family.” Born and raised in Belgium, Borgers began his career in the field of silicon chemistry at Dow Corning where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company’s solar business strategy and overseeing the launch of its first string of innovative solar products. He would later move to Japan to focus on the development of materials for lithium-ion batteries. Borgers’ expertise and commitment to sustainable energy solutions and clean technology led to his appointment as executive vice-president of Soitec’s Solar Division and president of Soitec US, driving the development of concentrated photovoltaic systems. Most recently, Borgers served as chief commercial officer for silicon-based anode material manufacturer Nexeon. “I am truly honored to join Alkegen and lead its Battery Division,” says Borgers. “The potential for innovation in energy storage is immense, and I am excited to collaborate with the exceptional team Alkegen has created to shape our future and shepherd the continued evolution of our innovative portfolio of battery products, including our groundbreaking silicon-anode battery technology, SiFAB.” Alkegen is building a broad portfolio of battery material technologies to make lithium-based battery packs safer while helping to extend battery life and accelerate charging time.
